  1. Looks good so far. The ability to run in landscape mode would give is something that VK Portalog doesn’t have. That would give operators more flexibility in positioning their device on their flight deck. Also, it is not really necessary to be able to see so many contacts in the log; the last two contacts would be adequate in my opinion, so a way to collapse and open the log list would be nice as well (and would make the switch to landscape mode easier).

    1. Thank you Matthew, I have added a screenshot and some words regarding landscape.

  2. Agree that landscape view would be great! Plus can you log in UTC (time & date) rather than local? Having both Apple and Google/Android versions is excellent!

    1. Hi Richard, nice to hear you using the app.
The log is already made in UTC, if you have trouble please check your date time settings at system level.

  3. There is no way to save the file directly to your device? As it is, I have to share it to Dropbox, download it, and then upload it. It would be great if it could just be saved directly to the device.

    1. The possibility to save locally depends on the platform.
On iOS it is possible to do that out of the box.
On Android things are a bit more complex cause it depends on the OS version and installed App’s.

      Hope that helps.

  4. Hello Thomas
First i want you to thanks for your nice application. I will try it soon on summit.
In a next version, is it possible to use the letters and numbers on the same desk.

  5. Hi Thomas. I just wrote a review of your app because I love it. It solves some of the problems that I was having with Hamlog on iOS. I used your logo on the article. Please let me know if you don’t approve.

What I really miss from Hamlog is it’s ability to use my qrz.com API key to get the station location name and location when I’m logging. If I didn’t have internet on the summit, I would open each contact and populate it when I got home before uploading to my logging program on my PC.

The other thing I miss are number keys at the top. The programmer for hamlog put an extra set of keys with the numbers on the screen. This was super helpful. What I do now is use the Google keyboard with has the numbers under “QWER..”, accessed with a long key press. So this is a lower priority.

Being able to look at the spots right in the app is cool. What’s strange is that KX0R was showing up on sotawatch but never came up on your app. I havn’t been using your app long so I don’t see a pattern yet.

    73, & thanks.

  6. Nice application, so far good approach to get fast on-field log entry, but yet incomplete solution (see – and –).

+ SOTA spots functionality: simple and yeah 🙂
+ SOTA summit entry using space :-))
    + Names.csv support
++ Auto updatet from QSO entries
+ Export using selected date or summit (no need to export all)
+ Up to 7 programmable buttons
oo But only for callsign – What about other fields?
+ Export exports importable SOTA file (ADIF and CSV)
    oo No comments with ADIF
    + Keyboard/fast entry approach, BUT:
    — No possibility to skip to next field using ext keyboard (cursor, Enter or (Shift)Tab do not work); requires touch screen; one of the MOST PROMISED features; expected to be corrected
    — Entering Freq number via keyboard (after Next on Summit): entered 123 written 231, really ANNOYING and expected to be corrected
    — Even when only FM mode is selected, the default mode by new QSO is SSB – no way to change using ext kbd
    — Entering time is too complicated and requires touch screen and a LOT of time dragging (yes, some of us like paper-first approach esepecially to be on sure side)
    — Why the hack I must enter PWR when in SOTA mode?
    — No obvious key combination to save the QSO
    — Next on Freq does not go to Power field, Next on Power does not enable mode entry
oo No (obvious) possibility to enter just band (potentially just frequency 145.0 for 2m FM?)
oo No obvious possibility to temporary save incomplete QSO record (listening CQ and preparing data for complete QSO, partially covered by SPOT’s but not necessary SPOT is already active)

    o option; + good; – bad/bug
